Background
The Integrated Nature Conservation Plan (INCP) is part of a program
for "A Sustainable Bush Capital in the new Millenium". The
scoping report summary describes some of the elements originally
proposed as part of the project.
The INCP information system (including this website) is the delivery mechanism
for the INCP and aims to provide users with a single access point for commonly
held statistics, strategies contained in management plans and maps of data
including the distribution of some threatened species.
The project has developed over a series of three stages. The first two stages
focused on scoping the requirements of the system and building an internal
desktop application for the operational requirements of Environment ACT. The
third stage of the project makes the INCP available for public use.
The project has developed in consultation with an internal steering committee
guiding the development of the system and a Stakeholder Reference Group
comprised of representatives from a range of community groups, professional
associations and NSW State Government agencies that have an interest in the
information contained in the INCP.
Future developments
The website will continue to be upgraded, with future improvements seeing the
inclusion of a wider range of plans as these are completed as public documents.
As the planning process continues over 2004-05, implementation plans including
on-ground actions for the various management plans will be incorporated into
the site.
Other proposed developments include an upgraded mapping window that will also
provide for the use of satellite imagery as a backdrop to maps.
