About the Maps
The maps for the INCP have been built using operational data used by Environment
ACT and the Department of Urban Services through the Corporate Geographic
Database.
At this stage, the INCP includes three interactive maps:
-
Lowland Woodlands
-
Threatened Species
-
Catchments
Over time, the list of datasets and types of maps will increase.
There are scale dependent layers utilised in this map for layers such as the
road network and contour intervals. These scale limits are needed to ensure
that the maps do not become too cluttered.
All maps use a similar set of base layers. Information on specific layers for
each map is included below.
Lowland Woodlands
This map includes the datasets as described in the ACT Lowland Woodland
Conservation Strategy.
Lowland woodlands datasets include: Partially Modified, Moderately Modified and
Secondary Grasslands. The endangered Yellow-box/ Red-gum Grassy Woodland
dataset is also identified. Other vegetation, not identified as Lowland
Woodland, where the grassy understorey had been destroyed is identified as
Severely and Substantially Modified vegetation. Refer to the
ACT Lowland Woodland Conservation Strategy for detailed descriptions on each of the
categories.
Threatened Species
The threatened species map includes layers identifying know habitat or know
occurrence of some of the listed threatened species in the ACT. The layers are
indicative only and not meant to represent exact locations.
Catchments
The catchments map displays the catchments as described in the Think water,
Act Water strategy launched in April 2004.
